Hope 4 Our Children's Event
On Saturday, April 2, 2005, the fundraiser, Dragonslayer Application (www.dragonslayerapps.com) and Hope 4 Our
Children organized a major fundraising event to benefit a boarding school for orphan in Subulussalam, Indonesia.
Subulussalam is a municipality of the island of Sumatra which is home to the city of Banda Aceh and the closest to the epicenter of the earthquake.
Subulussalam is an inland area not directly affected by the Tsunami, but is one of the poorest
regions of Sumatra and like every area is struggling to cope with the far-reaching after-effects.

dorm has had an influx of approximately 20 orphans (and 60 more children to the Dayah school) in the wake of the Tsunami, and
anticipates that many more
will need housing and education in the coming years.
Event Goal
The goal of this fundraiser was to raise $22,000 for the construction of a 40-child residence hall. Sterling Charitable
Gift Fund will match funds for a second residence hall if we reach our goal.
The event was a family-focused cultural celebration featuring traditional Indonesian foods, dance and musical performances, and arts and crafts for children.
Adults was fully briefed on the school, the current status of the orphans and the plans for construction and ongoing support. The events included a live auction
of jewelries and a silent auction of Indonesian crafts and textiles.
Event Outcome
The event was a success. We were able to raise $18,601.12. We received dollar per
dollar match by Sterling Charitable Gift Fund and contribution from The Embassy of Indonesia in Washington D.C. The fund was allocated to build a dorm that provides shelters for approximately 100 disadvantaged children, most of them are tsunami victims and orphans.
Unlike goods and services which will quickly be used, we were able to build a home that provides shelter to orphans in 40 or 50
years to come. Years from now, your donation will still be giving to the most unfortunate children in Aceh.
