Background
Every child is entitled to an education. However, education might not be easily accessible for economically disadvantaged children who lost at least one parent. Education promises a better life for children, yet many obstacles stand in the way, especially in areas hit by natural disasters, such as in Aceh after the tsunami, where the tsunami destroyed thousands of schools and killed thousands of teachers, and in West Sumatra, after the earthquakes killed thousands of parents and children.
Hope 4 Our Children was founded in early 2005 after the Tsunami earthquake took more than 230,000 lives in Aceh, Indonesia; 50,000 of which were children. Hope 4 Our Children, a non-profit organization based in Virginia, initiated projects to help disadvantaged children in Aceh, Indonesia, where tsunami orphaned thousands of children, ruined thousands of schools, killed thousands of teachers and destroyed the livelihood of thousands of people in the area. Our objective is to help provide economically disadvantaged children with four basic needs: food, shelter, health and education.
Our Objectives
Hope 4 Our Children helps to relieve the distress and hardship brought on by natural disaster and the resulting loss of guardians and family. Our objective is to promote the welfare of children without differentiation on the ground of race, color, nationality, creed or sex. To be able to help the poorest children escape from the cycle of poverty through education and training.
Our Current Programs
The fundamental principles of Hope 4 Our Children's programs include providing 4 basic needs for the children: food, shelter, health and education. Hope 4 Our Children aims to help the most vulnerable children, the orphan children and the economically disadvantaged children, obtain access to education. Hope 4 Our Children implements programs to help vulnerable children in Aceh, in West Sumatra, in Jogjakarta, and in Jakarta, Indonesia. We work with local grassroots organizations and orphanages with intention to bring orphan children a brighter future through improved nutrition, sufficient shelter, and access to education and training.
Contribution and Donation through Hope 4 Our Children
Hope 4 Our Children strives to create lasting change for the funding and donation allocated to the programs that focus on health and nutrition, shelter and primary education. Hope 4 Our Children assumes fiduciary responsibility in ensuring that funds are allocated to projects. We continue to implement and monitor our projects from inception to closeout phase. In the past five years, Hope 4 Our Children spent 98 percent of all expenditures on programs.
